More from the day

The Minises

The Minises are long time friends of my family, so you can imagine how nervous I was when they asked me to photograph everyone the one day all the kids would be in town. I was so comfortable though that I went back the next day just to take advantage of their beautiful waterfront view. Gates and Henry were such great sports, they got dressed up again just so I could play with my camera some more. What nice friends!

Trafton and Bonnie

Trafton and Bonnie are former neighbors and friends of mine. I was really excited to be asked to photograph their wedding in Colonial Cemetary on Halloween. They are officially the first the couple to be married there, which may not sound surprising to some people, but it was actually a beautiful spot. The brick photographed beautifully and the leaves were red, orange and yellow. (If you want to see leaves change color in Savannah, apparently they are all in Colonial Cemetary.)

family

I have a hundred pictures on my computer of Zac and my cats, which have never seen the light of day. That is the only downside of digital photography to me. I just upload my photos onto the computer and never print them. I miss the anticipation of taking a roll of film to be developed and leaving with a neat stack of 36 memories. As soon as I give myself time to put together a folder of my digital favorites I'm going to Wal-Mart. I still have about 6 rolls of film from maybe 4 years ago in my camera bag that I have yet to be developed. I can't wait to see what's on them.

These are a few of my favorites of Miss Coltrane, Ava and Raven the dog.

All cheeks

I photographed Asher and Marley for the first time this past Christmas and fell in love with Miss Marley. I babysit for them occasionally and it is so much fun to make her smile. She has to be one of the most easygoing babies I've met. I helped Gretchen at her Super Bowl party and Marley just quietly sat in her seat the entire time as fifteen kids ran screaming past her without warning. I want to hang out with this chick when she gets older! By the way, I know Allison is going to kill me for including one of these pictures, but I couldn't resist the look on Asher's face!

Beautiful People and Savannah mag!

These are photographs from a wedding I photographed last Fourth of July. Yes, it is February, but you can blame my mom for the procrastination gene. If you don't believe me, she just submitted my sister, Claire's wedding announcement. Her wedding was June 28th of last year, so by her standards I'm ahead of the game. Props to Chrissy of ChristineHallPhotography for the beautiful photos she took at Claire's wedding. She is one of the most talented photographers I know and a great inspiration. I am so excited that we have these gorgeous pictures of the day and Claire looks normal in all of them (which is a big accomplishment in the Compton family)! Just kidding, Claire. I'm just bitter because I split the rear of my bridesmaid's dress an hour before the wedding.

Tisha and Laird were my first real wedding clients and were so relaxed that the pictures practically took themselves. Tisha and Laird met on a blind date and were engaged 6 months later. I felt so honored that they chose me and I hope I did their day justice. Thank you guys! On that note a photo of the wedding will be used in the upcoming weddings issue of Savannah magazine as an advertisement for Savannah Quarters Country Club so keep a lookout!
